Night Splints for Plantar Fasciitis

The Truth about Plantar Fasciitis and Shoes

September 27th, 2013

There is a bit of misconception when it comes to curing plantar fasciitis and wearing the right shoes. Shoes, on their own, will often not cure PF. PF might be caused by a number of issues which may or may not include some the following contributors:

  • Bad Shoes
  • Flat Feed
  • Long Periods of Activity on Feet
  • Rapid Weight Change (pregnancy)

So if you suffer from PF, simply finding a comfortable pair of running shoes won’t solve the problem. Now certainly wearing a good pair of shoes, shoes that don’t aggravate the problem, certainly won’t make your condition worse, but shoes probably won’t cure the problem on their own. At best, you want a pair of shoes that offers a good deal of heel support. There are a couple pair of shoes that do have a good reputation when it comes to good support. If you have high arch feet, go with the Asics Gel Nimbus brand of shoes. If you have flat feet, you might want to try the Asics Kayano.

We are not suggesting that you should not invest in a pair of shoes that don’t hurt your feet. But just keep in mind that shoes alone will not often cure your problem.
